Digital Technology Laboratory Corporation, located in Davis, California is a subsidiary of Mori Seiki Co. LTD, one of the largest machine tool manufacturers in the world. Our mission is to provide advanced manufacturing and machine technology for CNC machine tools.
We are a fast growing company currently involved in a major expansion. We have recently moved into a 70,000 sq ft green building in Davis, CA. We're looking for candidates with career growth in mind to join our talented team. We have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer to help with design of our machines.
Primary Duties:
1. Design, model, and draft parts and assemblies using 3-D CAD software
2. Specify bill of materials for machines, order parts as necessary for prototype machines
3. Attends and participates in regular design reviews with team members and management staff to ensure a high-quality design
4. Completes high quality 2D dimensioned drawings for designed parts and releases them for manufacturing in a timely manner
5. Travels when required to attend design reviews, conferences, and to support assembly of machine tool systems
6. Reduce component cost through design
7. Interface with vendors and suppliers and ensure part delivery schedule will be met
Requirements:
1. BS with 4-6 yrs, or MS with 2-4 yrs experience, or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
2. Experience with ultra precision mechanism design is required
3. Strong knowledge of machine tools and manufacturing processes (structure, operation, etc.)
4. Excellent proficiency in 3D CAD software. Solid Edge or Solid Works is preferred
5. Experience with 5-axis machines is preferred
6. Experience testing with laser interferometer is a plus
