Case Supervisor - ASL/Sign Language Skills Req'd (Sacramento)
compensation: Salaried position; benefits package available
INTERMEDIATE TO FLUENT ASL/SIGN LANGUAGE SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. INTERVIEWS WILL BE CONDUCTED IN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE. THE PEOPLE WE SUPPORT IN THIS UNIT ARE DEAF AND ONLY COMMUNICATE IN SIGN LANGUAGE. MOST OF YOUR COMMUNICATION WHILE WORKING WILL BE IN SIGN LANGUAGE.
This is NOT a Monday to Friday, 9a to 5p position. You will need to be able to work a flexible work schedule with a rotating on-call schedule.
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE EXCELLENT TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION.
This position requires you to provide instruction and support to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities while following the Supported Living Services principles and S.T.E.P's vision and mission statements. This position will involve working with the people we support, whom we refer to as our "employers," and actively working with them toward meeting their ISP (Individual Service Plan) goals as well as personal goals in their homes and in the community. You will promote and teach self-advocacy, personal, domestic, medical, financial, social/recreational, communication, and behavior management skills to our employer to encourage their independence.
This individual will be expected to complete all required paperwork accurately and be submitted by scheduled due dates. Required paperwork includes, but is not limited to, case notes, progress reports, timecards, assessments, supervisor documentation, Special Incident Reports, financial/medical logs, APS reports, etc.
You will be expected to maintain a 75/25 ratio for your time; meaning that 75% of your time will be with an employer, 25% will be administrative time. There will be many meetings, many deadline driven reports and forms on a monthly, semi-monthly, and quarterly basis and at times, you will be asked to perform the same duties (personal care, housecleaning, etc.) as the employees that you will supervise. You will receive all necessary trainings so that you are capable of performing all the duties required of this position.
There is a need to be able to successfully work independently with minimal supervision AND to successfully work as part of a team.
To be considered for this position you must (please note that this is NOT an all-inclusive list):
*Be a High School graduate or possess a GED or equivalent.
*Possess one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities or in a related field, or possess a college degree in a related field.
*Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
*Possess a valid CDL, safe, reliable, registered and currently insured vehicle.
*Must have good driving record. A DMV report is required for all supervisor positions.
*Be able to quickly and competently learn and use new computer programs and methods.
*Possess current CPR/1st Aid certification; if hired, must maintain throughout employment with agency.
*Be cleared through a background criminal check and successfully pass post-offer, pre-employment drug screen.
*Be able to read/write in the English language in order to perform essential duties and
possess basic mathematical skills.
*Be punctual, flexible, reliable, adaptable, creative, patient, self-confident, and trustworthy.
