Foster Families are a valuable resource for children who are unable to live with their biological families. At Stanford Home our Foster Care Program takes a caring, family centered approach as we connect foster youth with certified foster families, giving even the most vulnerable children in our community the opportunity to dream, to overcome, and to thrive.
PLEASE NOTE: Although certified foster parents receive a monthly stipend intended to cover the expenses of a child placed in their home, this is NOT a traditional employment opportunity.
You are eligible to be a Foster Parent if ...
* You are over 25 (no upper age limit)
* You have a steady income
* You are in good health
* You are single, married, or in a domestic partnership
* You live in an apartment, mobile home, condo, or house
* You have space for a child in your home (two kids can share a room)
* You have reliable transportation, a driver's license, and auto insurance
* You are deeply committed to giving a child a home
* You are able and willing to provide a child lots of time and attention
* You are patient, flexible, and willing to learn
