Although there is always a need for adoptive homes, there is also a tremendous need for foster homes. Many of our cockers are crrently in kennel boarding due to a lack of foster homes. We were able to save their lives but have been unable to provide them with the love and comfort of a home. If you would like to experiece the joys of having a cocker spaniel in your home but are unable to make a life-long committment, foster care may be right for you and you will be responsible for get a cocker out of a kennel and into a loving environment.

Pictured Top Left-Introducing BABY DINO (born approximately late April?) - just a wee tiny puppy dog! His owners turned him in to the shelter for biting their children, but guess what we discovered? Dino is fearful of his ears being pulled and pinched and we think someone used to mishandle him. We are working on positive reinforcement where we gently pet his ear and give him a treat and repeat over and over. In the two weeks we've had him, he has changed dramatically and is SO much more trusting around his ears. We are not going to be adopting him out to anyone with children though, better to be safe and just put him in an adult only home with someone who is gentle and can continue positive reinforcement training with him. True to the Cocker breed, Dino has a Cherry Eye now popping out of his left eye. This can wait until he is old enough to get neutered and be fixed at the same time. Check out his short VIDEO at www.campcocke.com Adoption donation will be waived (because of his Cherry Eye) but there will be a fully refundable deposit of $500 to be reimbursed once you neuter and get his Cherry Eye fixed. This is to ensure he gets into the hands of responsible adopters who will follow through on his surgery.



Pictured Top Right-Introducing SNICKERDOODLE - the three year old petite Cocker boy. He gets very happy to see people and does a little happy dance. He loves going for long walks and is very active and would do well with a big backyard and other dogs to play with. He loves people and is very affectionate, if you sit on the floor he will put his paws on your shoulders and lick your face, LOL! He craves human approval and just wants to be loved and accepted. When we first got Snickerdoodle out of the shelter, he was so matted that we had to shave him down. But he looks cute with his new puppy cut! Snickerdoodle had Cherry Eye surgery on his right eye and it is halfway back out again. Pictured Bottom Left - Introducing MICHELLE - the beautiful five to six year old Cocker Spaniel girl. Michelle is very much a dog who craves being around her people, she will follow you from room to room and is always looking up to you for your approval. Her most favorite thing (next to being with you) is to carry her toys around in her mouth. Michelle is not dog friendly and we believe she may not have been properly socialized by whomever had her as a puppy. She gets possessive over her toys and her space and she absolutely needs to be the only dog in the home. If you sit down on the floor, she gets so happy and takes a running leap into your lap and nestles her head into you. She literally won't move for as long as you are willing to sit there and pet her. She just craves human affection and would do best in a home where someone is around a lot - perhaps someone whom either works from home or is retired? Michelle just got Cherry Eye surgery on her left eye on 7/3/08 and it is healing nicely. Michelle does have a cataract on her left eye but full vision in her right eye and she seems to do fine. When we rescued her, she was a bit chubbier and with some nice walks and exercise and good nutrition, you should be able to get her fit and in tip top shape in no time! She doesn't really love going for too long of a walk but if you can build up her endurance over time, it would be really good for her (we rescued her from a situation where she had been living tied up on a rope for two years, so understandably her cardio fitness level was way down when we got her) Check out Michelle's VIDEO at www.campcocker.com


Pictred Bottom Right - Meet BENNY our sweet senior boy who has limited vision (we first thought he was blind, but he sees shadows and gets around fairly well). He will hold up his little paw for you to ask for your affection and he is friendly with other dogs. He sure has been disappointed by his former owners and really so deserving of a second chance. Anyone who has taken in a senior dog can tell you how rewarding an experience it can be to know that you have literally given a dog the best years of his entire life! I have a beautiful kitten with no rehoming fee. She is FREE. I have never seen colors like this before. She has short hair and has many colors on her coat but she is not only a tortie but she has tabby stripes on her. The colors are bright and deluted. She is playful and a good lap kitten. They just got way over their heads in trying to rescue more than they could handle. Unfortunately, this caused neglect toward the cats and kittens because they were so overwhelmed.

The community needs to pull together and try to help all these cats and kittens that may have been left behind in this unfortunate circumstance.

Don't be angry at the rescue group that had good intentions. This is now about all the homeless cats and kittens that are waiting for a permanent loving home.

I got her about a month and a half ago and I'm in way over my head, I have owned several hounds before so please don't give me advice about how to deal with hounds. I just don't have the time patience or energy to retrain her. Plus I just got a new job that I have to move for and they will only allow me to keep 1 of my large breed dogs, and I'm keeping the one I've had the longest. I don't want to take her to the pound but if I can't find her a proper home with someone who understands Hunting hounds, within the next week or so, I may have to. And, I know most hounds don't make it back out of the pound. I am completely over whelmed by her bullheadedness, she barks a lot and keeps my toddler up until 3 or 4am, and doesn't obey any indoor boundaries, she jumps all the baby gates and chews up my child's toys which are kept behind the gates to keep them from being destroyed. If I lived in the country maybe some of these things wouldn't be big issues but seeing as I live in a densely populated area, her barking is an issue all on it's own.

She is a pure bred, with screwy UKC papers (the breeder accidentally gave the 1st owner or buyer papers on a male pup) of that you'll have to communicate with the breeder to get fixed. She is up to date on all her shots, I have her Shot record. She's not fixed yet. She was born March 5, 2007. I am her 3rd owner not including the breeder, the last owner lied to me when I asked if she did all the things I'm now complaining about, they had her for less than 6 weeks. So she has some separation issues, which is where 90% of her issues come from.

I believe she may have been beaten by one of the previous owners seeing as she flinches. She is great with other dogs as long as they aren't small or toy breeds (she chases them), she's okay with cats for the most part (but she does try to haul kittens around and get a little rough while playing, though I'm not sure I'd recommend her going to a home with kittens), she is great with children as I said I have a toddler (well except for the keeping them up part). For the most part she learns really quickly, she knows sit, shake, down (as in get down), out and sometimes lay down (she's hard headed). She is 100% house broken. She is a cuddle bug who will want to sleep with you, in your bed, and she'll stay there all night. In fact, she'll love to be up your hind end if you let her, which is how she got her name "Buggy". In a lot of ways she is a great dog, but her bad habits are too much for me to deal with and I'll be going back to school full time come fall and I have another dog I've had longer that I'll need to give my time to, plus time for my toddler and I'm going to be working full time, as an apartment manager, so she'll be left out.

I would like to get the $75 adoption fee I paid for her back but I would be willing to waive the fee for the right family/person. I wont lie to you and tell you that she is a perfect dog, but I know underneath her bad habits is a great dog waiting to come out.

She would probably make a great addition to any hunting family/pack.

Arnie is a wonderful little guy. He is silly and goofy and all the good stuff in between. He is good around small dogs. His foster family had a small dog and they were best friends. He was the first kitten of the litter to figure out how to get up onto the bathroom counter where the food was kept. He was the feistiest of the litter and the second one to be caught. He will absolutely love his food and treats when he grows up. He is often found exploring by himself and enjoys sleeping under the bed. He is litter box trained and will go across the house to use it. He loves his cat tree and toy mice. He also believes in playing hard or going home! Arnie will make a wonderful family cat. Arnie has developed a new love for his family. He now fallows us around and occasionally sleeps on my head or chest! He has become very social and fun loving. He comes when he is called with an eager, “ What have you got from me?” kind of attitude. This little black cat is super special and would love anyone who loves him back.
