At the end of a gnarley rafting trip i gazed upon the shore of the Salmon Falls region of Folsom lake. I beheld a little white dog floating in the river he must have been bored cause he didnt move much maybe he was trying to see how long he could hold his breath under water. the little guy was losing a lot of hair. Anyway we figured he was either a local or somebody would come to retrieve him so we let him be. If you are looking for him he could probably be found chasing rabbits on a farm about a half mile up stream from the Salmon Falls bridge, south shore. Happy Huntings!

If so, do your family and everyone here looking to find a home capable and willing to take care of a cherished pet a favor, DON'T GET A DOG. It's not fair of you to prey on people who genuinely need a good loving home for a pet only to give it to someone like you, who probably doesn't even know the first thing about what it takes to care for a dog. They bark, they jump, they chew, they poop and pee, get your kids a big stuffed animal. Since that's probably how they will treat the poor dog once the novelty wears off.

Ok so me and my husband live in North Highlands and it has gotten worse over the last 6 mos especially with the housing market...all the foreclosures are attracting squatters...its just getting ridiculous and I am starting to feel very unsafe. I have a 3 year old German Shepherd, who does bark and is somewhat protective, but I have socialized her so much that more or less she is very friendly with people. I don't want an out of control dog...but I would love to find an AFFORDABLE trainer that can train her in some home protection techniques so when we leave the house its guarded and when we are home we are safe. I want her to look and act intimidating when I need her to be, but again don't want a dangerous out of control dog. She is a family dog, inside dog, and well taken care of and to make her the perfect family member, I wish to find a trainer that can help us with our protection needs. I am so desperate...its sad when you walk around your house on egg shells and are worried to leave your house alone in fear of burgalry or tresspassing.

Why are you wanting to give away a cat you just found? Have you stopped to think it's owner may be heartbroken? Snowshoe cats are definately NOT rare-just check out all the cat rescue sites!! You should at least let animal control or the spca know you found the kitty in case it's mommy or daddy is looking for it-maybe see if a rescue will take it and make sure it is tested and vaccinated at the very least-and they will neuter it.

I have an approximately 5 month old (the vet has the exact date of birth) female yellow lab that is in need of a loving home that meets the perfect match for her. She is great with small children and very sweet. She requires lots of attention and would become an amazing family companion with the proper care and attention. She is trained to go potty outside but will occasionally have accidents in the home. She is a great dog but I just don't have the room or time to keep the dog and would rather her be with a family that could give her what she needs. She has her first and second sets of shots, dewormed, treated for fleas, and is on heart worm medication. Will need her rabies shot. Raja is a very affectionate and handsome black & tan male GSD. The only owner he has known died unexpectantly in March, so Raja is in desperate need of a new forever home with people who are looking for a faithful and loving companion. He is 8 years old, weighs 85 lbs., and would be at his best in a home with no other dogs, cats, or children under 12; a home with a calm/submissive female dog, however, might work out just fine!

Raja knows the basic commands of 'down', 'sit', 'stay', and 'come', as well as 'speak' and 'shake', but knows he would benefit greatly with some formal obedience training and some socialization with other dogs. Raja also has a strong personality and can be somewhat anxious (he whines), so he would be happiest if you could give him moderate to strong leadership and keep him well exercised. He LOVES to play ball and go for car rides, and is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS on a leash -- he would make a wonderful jogging partner!

Raja is used to living inside the house at all times and is fully house trained. He does not do well outside, especially when left alone. He sleeps on the floor at the foot of the bed, and is in overall excellent health. He has some slight arthritis in his right rear leg but this does not limit his activity.

They are great pets, I know, I have had several! I currently have the tiniest cutest baby! Every time my babies pass, I wait a grieving period and get another.

Why have I had so many, and why do I always get another? Simple, the owners who had them before me had taken lessons in how to kill an iguana. Let me tell you how they did it and you too can be well on your way to breaking the next owner's heart!!

1. Everyone knows iguanas MUST have meat! The more the merrier. Especially dog or cat food, shovel it in. They wouldn't eat it if it was bad for them would they? No one that tough looking could be a vegetarian!

2. Lettuce, especially iceburg is a MUST!! After all, look at how much they like it! Heck, the last one you had didn't want to eat anything else!

3. Make sure to get the smallest cage you can, after all, they won't grow bigger than their cage, everyone knows that. Besides, look at how it just lays around, it doesn't need room to move anyway.

4. When they get too big, a garage or empty room makes a great place to keep them. They aren't like cats and dogs, they don't need stimulation or interaction, heck, they just glare at you anyway, clearly they want to be alone.

5. DO NOT give them water!! The books all say they get plenty from fruits and veggies, besides feel that dry skin? You don't get tough skin like that from proper hydration, so don't mist them or let them swim in a pool either!!

6. Don't forget the lining in that small cage either. Pile in lots, rocks, sand, bark, whatever. Make sure it is small enough that they can get a good taste of it too.

7. When you get sick of it, don't worry, lots of people want a big agressive iguana. It will make them look tough. And heck if worse comes to worse, they survive just fine in the wild, after all that's where lots came from, heck you are doing them a favor!

Now, if you are one of those odd sorts who for some reason wants to have an iguana that is healthy and happy, you may have to try a different tact, it won't be as easy as killing one, but if it is that important to you.....

1. Iguanas are vegetarians. Totally, completely. Period. Meat and protien can kill them and WILL cause health problems. Try the MK diet, it is all I use, and I can't claim it saved the ones I have had from an early death, but it gave them many more years that they would not have had otherwise.

2. Even YOU should not eat iceburg lettuce! It has no real nutritional value. Other greens (except spinach, avoid that for iguanas) are healthier, and mixed precut bags are available and good for YOU too!! And iceburg is like iguana crack. They LOVE the taste and many will refuse anything else after a time and literally starve to death.

3. The bigger the cage the better. Mine are free roamers in a room set up just for them, but not everyone can do this. A good cage can be made cheaply from PVC and Hardware cloth. Google it, a brilliant man put a free plan up for everyone to use! At very least the cage needs to be 1.5 times the length of iguana in cage length and twice as tall as length in heigth. And it needs a good UV light, one for iguanas not plants for basking and lots of fun stuff to climb on.

4. Iguanas NEED attention and stimulation. Not all will love to be held, some will just allow you in their magnificent presence, but all need some toys, to see new things, to be a part of the family.

5. Iguanas desperately need water more than many other pets. Their enclosures should be humid, they should get to swim in at least the bathtub, but one of those cheap plastic pools would be better, and YES they need a bowl of water. Can you believe that some people who write books and claim to be professionals tell you not to give them a bowl of water because they might use it as a toilet?? Can you imagine if your dog or cat messed up their water deciding that's it no more water for them??

6. Substrate in an iguana cage is a no no for many reasons. They can eat it and become impacted. When an iguana defecates their cloaca (an opening to their genitalia and bowels) pushes open a bit and some can get pulled inside. Imagine having a bit of pine or anything else for that matter stuck inside THERE!! Use newspaper, or paper towels, or an old towel. Change it out often. heck, it will be cheaper and easier to clean anyway!

7. Iguanas turned loose in the wild are becomming a nuisance creature in many areas. They get killed by pets, by people, and they are no traffic savvy. And NO ONE wants your large agressive unsocialized bitey iguana. Some of us take them when we can, but trust me, we are filled to the brim!

I am reposting this, due to me having a family emergency and not being about to respond in a timely manner as well as the over whelming responce for them. So I am going to try again. I have 10 total, goldfish. They are koi and long finned goldfish (from what I was told). The smallest ones (there are 2) are about an inch long. Most of the others are about 2 inches but there is one really big fat that is about 3 inches long (and has a really long fin, we is the dad from what I heard). There are 4 all golds, there are 2 all white ones, and the rest have both gold and white. I DONT HAVE ANY PICS SORRY or i would post them. If you would like to come by and look at them you are more then welcome, but its a first come first serve kind of thing. I would like $5 a fish or if you take all of them, i will give them to you for $25.

I work an evening shift at work, so i dont get home until 9pm M-F so I am willing to have you come over and look or take them home with you some time after that, or before noon. My 12 yr old shepard passed away about a year ago and I am ready to open my heart to a new member of the family. . I am self employed so I work at home a great deal of the time, have a large back yard and would love a walking/jogging companion. My pets are my children, so they are treated with the utmost love, spoiled rotten and are not left outdoors. They sleep in my bed with me, often go on errands with me, and go to Monterey often when I visit my sister. My dog would get great beach time:) My previous dog before Tahoe was KC, which I had for 15 years until he passed away as well. I keep my dog for life.

My preference is a pure bred, male adult ( older may be okay) and at least somewhat trained dog. I really don't want a dog that needs a lot of work, is a runner or anti social with other dogs to the point they need to go after them or jump thru window screens or gets out of control trying to get at them. I also need a dog that is okay with cats. My cat loves dogs, just doesn't like other cats. I am okay if a dog has some issues and am more than willing to work with that. Should be good with children (I have a new niece and two grand kids ages 4 & 14 and other people. I am more than fine with a Belgian Shepard as well ( long haired).

I volunteered with the Yolo County SPCA for several years and also worked for a reputable vet in Davis while putting myself through school. I currently have one cat and he loves dogs... the bigger the better in his world.

I tried one dog from a gentleman who said he has no issues with the dog, it was a runner, jumped thru screens, went after other dogs and it was just a huge disaster, so it serves no purpose to mis-represent. As I said, I am not expecting perfection, and am more than willing to work with a dog if needed, but there are some things that just cannot work for me, those would be a few on the list.

I also will consider fostering a dog, even if I adopt a permanent one for a family that has fallen on hard times and cannot bear to send their dog to the pound. I may consider fostering the dog until you are resituated and can take your dog back again. Breed is not an issue in that case, except I won't take on Pits, Rots or Dobermans, sorry.
