JOB DESCRIPTION:<br>
The Network Operations Engineer will be involved in all areas of installing, supporting, and maintaining our customers’ networks.  This will include providing tier 1 and tier 2 technical support at our customer sites as well as remotely and will frequently involve working over the phone with end-users.  Occasional out of town travel and work on weekends is required.  This position will require working with a variety of hardware and software including PCs, servers, network equipment, backup systems, printers, scanners, specialized dental equipment, and more.  Other responsibilities will include supervising installation of new networks as well as assisting other technicians in resolving difficult issues.  Installations can be physically demanding and include lifting, carrying, and unpacking equipment, installing hardware in difficult to reach locations, and using hand tools.<br>

JOB REQUIREMENTS:<br>
•	Related Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and certification.<br>

Candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting performance issues utilizing root-cause analysis and recommending appropriate action. Other duties include ensuring the availability of application and infrastructure supported as well as implementing new concepts, techniques, and standards as required. Ensures solutions are consistent with organizational objectives and enterprise architecture standards.  Manage all data and voice circuits from installation, troubleshooting, and general maintenance. Design and develop voice network disaster recovery strategies. Excellent customer service skills are required.  General IT support work will be required from this position in addition to Telecommunications.  Expect to spend 20% of your time on Telecommunication related tasks and 80% of your time on general IT desktop/server support.<br>

Position Requirements-The ideal candidates will posses 3 to 5 years of experience. The candidate will have administrator experience with Nortel-based PBX, Symposium ACD, and Call Pilot. They will be responsible for proactive troubleshooting which includes daily searches of log files for any error messages as well as corrective responses. They will utilize fundamental knowledge of telecommunication networking. A high level of customer service skills is needed. Ingenuity, innovation, and a high level of motivation are a must.  Strong documentation and communication skills are required.<br>
<br>
Experience with Unix/Linux, Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Server, Microsoft Office, and Visio is highly preferable.  Previous administration of Cisco networking hardware a plus. Flexibility is required in this position, requiring on call support.  <br>
<br>
Preferred qualifications include: Edify IVR and Genesys CTI support, Nortel (or equivalent) certifications on the Option 11 – 81 line of PBX’s, Call Pilot, and Symposium. <br>

SALARY AND BENEFITS<br>
Starting salary ranges between $5,393.94 to $5,663.63 per month will be commensurate with education and experience. Additional $987 per month may be used toward the library's cafeteria plan benefits. Cafeteria options include choice of several health plans, dental plan, short&#8208;term disability, life and other insurance plans, out&#8208;of pocket medical and family care reimbursement, and cash back. CalPERS retirement plan includes 7% employee contribution, optional 457 deferred compensation plan, employer paid long&#8208;term disability, and rapid transit or parking subsidies. Paid holidays 14 days, vacation accrual first three years are 6.7 hours per month, sick leave accrual 10 hours per month. <br>
