Summary:
Develops, implements and manages sales activities of the Sacramento News & Review, responsible for sales strategy and the day-to-day management of the assigned sales team, as well as for interface activities with the Publisher, senior management, colleagues, and other departments.
Essential Duties:
*Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate company goals.
*Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance/sales goals for individuals and department accordingly for the purpose of attaining company goals.
*Manages department’s administrative functions for the purpose of maintaining efficient operations within company guidelines.
*Accurately tracks and compares revenue, trade sales, national sales and sales into other papers for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing timely feedback to management and achieving overall objectives of the department’s objectives.
*Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, rates and packages.
*Directs staffing, training, and performance appraisals for the purpose of assuring standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
*Advises vendors, distributors, and clients concerning sales and advertising strategies.
*Facilitates communication between all people interacted with in the course of a work day for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
*Presents information on a variety of sales related topics for the purpose of communicating information and gaining feedback on issues.
*Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base or category expansion.
*Establishes and maintains industry contacts for the purpose of growing revenue.
*Assigns sales categories and call-ins to sales representatives for the purpose of managing workload efficiently.
*Performs analysis of sales statistics to formulate policy and assist Account Executives in promoting sales.
*Develops new products or creates new environments to enhance sales capabilities.
*Represents Company at trade association meetings to promote newspaper.
*Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives for the purpose of maintaining ongoing client relationships, negotiating and closing agreements, and enhancing sales force capabilities.
*Analyzes, controls, and manages department expenditures to meet budgetary requirements.
*Grows the business and develops a winning strategy.
*Develops our team and builds a winning culture.
Other Requirements:
Valid Driver license, proof of current insurance, and ability to work in the United States.
Minimum Experience / Education:
· 3 years sales management experience; experience in advertising / media environment, preferred
· Progressive and documented ability to grow revenues through the management of a sales team
· 4-year degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or other related field, preferred.
Compensation / Benefits:
Salary negotiable, DOQ. Plus a good benefits package including health, dental, vision, EAP, a 401(k) plan, and paid-time off (PTO). This is a full-time position.
NOTES: Travel is primarily local, very little out of the area travel required. No phone /emails from agency representatives, please.
