J. Burton and Associates, Inc. provides computers and peripherals, custom networks and broadband internet for conferences and trade shows locally, nationally and abroad.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Installation and configuration of computers and printers, local area networks and broadband internet for a five day conference at a hotel in San Antonio, TX. Travel provided.
DATES: April 25 - May 1, 2008 (Fri – Thurs); Hours TBD.
PROFICIENCIES:
Technician shall be familiar with a variety of hardware and software, including:
-CPUs, LCD displays, HP LaserJet printers, removable media, flash cards, etc.
-Operating systems, i.e. WinXP Professional and Home Editions
-Applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
-Internet and email applications, i.e. Internet Explorer, Outlook, etc.
-Utilities, i.e. Acrobat, Shockwave, Anti-Virus, VPN, etc.
-TCP/IP Configuration, including ping, traceroute, etc.
-Hubs, switches, DHCP/NAT routers, firewalls, etc.
-Wired 10/100 Mbps and WiFi 802.11b/g networking
Applicant must be experienced at crimping RJ-45 ends on bulk ethernet cable.
Good presentation and excellent communication skills required. Must be able to follow instructions and complete tasks without supervision.
EXPERIENCE:
Trade show or conference experience highly desirable. Background in computer or A/V rentals a plus.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Fluent with terms and concepts required for configuring internet access. These include, but are not limited to PPP, TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnets, protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, SMTP), gateways, routers, hosts, domains, POP, bandwidth, authentication, compression, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Good physical condition. Must be able to setup computers, monitors, etc. Requires lifting (up to 75 lbs).

Compensation: Compensation: $26 to $32 per hour, commensurate with experience. 48 regular hours and 10 OT hours guaranteed.
