This handmade wooden model ship needs repairs after effectively going through a hurricane. This came from a kit made for experts, but I suspect a talented beginner with good woodworking skills could do the repairs necessary to bring this back to life and leave it without anyone knowing the difference. Photos for kits being sold online (in excess of $450) or of its full-size replica can provide guides for the necessary repairs.
I did not take time to clean it up so you must look closely to parts lacking dust to see the expert work (nice knots, decking, etc.)
This one is probably worth several times my selling price when repaired. In reference to various kits, AI states, “Multiple retailers and manufacturers categorize this specific kit as "Expert" or "Intermediate/Advanced."” I could not list "condition" because it is excellent but for repairs (2 upper mast supports, rudder, stern railings, and ensuring the rigging is not tangled).
ABOUT THE HMS ENDEAVOUR :
It was a Royal Navy research vessel that Lieutenant James Cook commanded to Tahiti, New Zealand and Australia on his first voyage of discovery. During the Revolutionary War it was scuttled in 1778 during a blockade of Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island.
A replica was launched in 1994 and is now part of the Australian National Maritime Museum.
Additional photos and information on request. I will be posting other boats in the future.
