Here is a very rare original copy of Michigan State Normal High School Yearbook from 1893. Yearbooks of this age are rare with photographs as photography was expensive in that era. Most are found in college yearbooks it's very rare to find in high school yearbooks of this era. This book is in amazing condition for the age no rips or tears and tight spine.
Michigan State Normal School was the first high school in Michigan founded in 1853. In 1899 this school became Eastern Michigan College.
This is a great piece of history and a chance to get a look at what life was like 130 years ago. In 1893, there were no cars or airplanes travel was by horse or train. Tennis shoes did not exist and the football team did not know of the forward pass. The football was oblong as the forward pass did not exist yet. Great old pictures and reading. Even the ads are a treat to view. Also included in the last two pictures are four 1893 dated coins the same year this yearbook was printed. $40
