Sacramento’s Steve Rex makes some of the finest steel frames in the US, and he’s rightfully known as a fillet-brazing master. This gorgeous bike is no exception!
Steve’s bikes don’t pop up too often, as people tend to hang onto them. He’s a huge figure in the NorCal cycling community, and has made frames for loads of famous cyclists in the region, as well as for Bay Area race teams.
This lightweight frameset is 59cm, with classic, smooth lines. Fastback seat stays with beautiful filleting, lugged bottom bracket, lugged steel fork, and a peg pump, of course. The Candy Apple red finish looks amazing in the sun!
A very sweet build, with a Campagnolo Athena Silver 22-speed groupset w/ Record brakes, Mavic Open Pros laced to smooth Miche hubs, 25mm Specialized Turbo Pro tires, Nitto’s excellent UI-12 OS stem with Soma handlebar and Velo Orange seatpost. A solid build for a beautiful, classy ride.
Frame geometry (hand measured, may be off by a few mm):
TT: 59cm c-c
ST: 60cm c-c
HT: 180mm w/o HS, 230mm with.
Wheelbase/ 405mm
HT and ST angles both look to be 73 degrees.
