This Manchu-style traditional Chinese melon hat was worn by male officials. The distinctive round shape, patterned silk fabric, central button or finial, and an attached braid to represent the Manchu queue hairstyle makes this hat perfect for theater, cosplay, or Halloween costumes. This was used for my son's school project when studying world history. The rope whip is handmade and a pretty accurate replication of what was used during many of the Chinese dynasties.
