a pair of adorable cat bookends. They are vintage, and were made in Japan . They were sold by Takahashi in San Francisco. Takahashi imported fine ceramics from Japan for many decades , and sold them in San Francisco. They are no longer in operation. This pair are likely from the 1980's. They are ceramic, and each one has a Tom Cat posed on a wall. The cats wear ties. The bookends, are vintage and pre-owned but are in good shape. Each has its original sticker on the back. They are free from chips and cracks and the glaze is bright. They have a green baize surface protector on the base, This has faded a little with age , and is peeling slightly on the corner of one of them. The book ends are hollow inside but are heavy and sturdy.
