For sale is a wonderful van. This is a 2012 Ford E-150 with a professionally-done camper conversion and custom paint by artist The Wolf Counsel. It was built by Escape Campervans.
It has a 4.6l V8 with around 338k miles on it (may increase after posting) and an automatic transmission. It’s been well-maintained, and recently (February) had all-new fluids and brakes installed. It could use new shocks and ball joints – good-quality parts are included (Bilstein shocks and Mevotech Terrain Tough ball joints), but drives fine as-is. It could also use new tires, which aren’t included. It passes smog and has a current California registration. It has a new AGM battery. It starts and runs great, and cruises at freeway speeds (or sits in traffic) for hours without overheating. A/C blows cold front and rear. Clean title.
Up front, it has a wireless CarPlay headunit, with properly-run backup camera, and is otherwise “standard Ford van”. We’d also done a heavy-duty plastic floormat. The camper conversion includes a dinette layout that can fit 6 people for lunch, which converts to a pretty sizable (roughly queen-size) and shockingly comfy bed. We added to the interior by building a nicer table (with hidden magnet to hold a lamp steady), putting down faux-wood flooring, and making the curtains a bit nicer. Non-smoking home, no weird smells.
In the back, it has a kitchen conversion which includes lots of storage and workspace, a pump sink with 5-gallon water tank, a special tray for a propane stove (included), and a Dometic fridge (included). The fridge is powered by a solar panel on the roof which feeds a separate house battery, so you can leave it fridging without being worried about the engine battery dying.
The body condition is… unique! The main bad thing is that someone in its past donked the left-hand quarter panel, so it has some scrapes. Other than that, the paint is just worn in a bunch of places. The good thing is… I mean, if you look at it and don’t hate it, you’ll love it. The vibes are incredibly good, and the van is so good at making people happy.
…and in writing this post, I am very sad! For life reasons, my wife and I need to get down to one car, and while we love Van, Van is not ideally-suited for daily commuting. Whether you’re looking to try being a vanlife person without spending $90k on a Sprinter, already spent $90k on a Sprinter and now want something more cheerful that fits in a normal parking spot at Lassen, or just want an incredibly fun way to bop around the country – I highly recommend this excellent van.
