Little Orchard Preschool has a reputation for consistently providing a high quality program to children and families for nearly 28 years!
We are looking for a positive, friendly person who has the energy and aptitude to work with young children. The ideal candidate will have a calm, cheerful demeanor and have the ability to provide children with nurturing and positive interactions. The ideal candidate will be a team player, someone who enjoys working with people and especially children and enrolled or have early childhood coursework.
The preschool assistant will assist the classroom teacher in every aspect of the daily program which will include, daily activities that may be messy; personal care routines including eating, toileting, diapering, cleaning up; napping which will include setting up the nap room mats, sheets, blankets, as well as laundering weekly; and center clean up which includes cleaning kitchen, classrooms and outdoor areas. We have animals on site that are a part of our program, so the children visit them, feed, them and collect the eggs and teachers maintain their environment in clean condition.
Early childhood units (ECE) coursework from the community college are desired. New candidates who do not possess some of the documentation required will be instructed on how to obtain. All employees are required to have the following prior to employment, exceptions are stated.
-Education: 6-12 ECE units and enrolled in at least 2 units per semester until 12 have been completed (child development; child, family and community; preschool curriculum and health and safety in a childcare center)
-Experience- Is desired but not required.
-Must be physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and in good health
-Must be able to stand for many hours comfortably
-Must be able to bend, squat, stand, sit and get up and down at children's level throughout the day
-CLEAR fingerprint clearance completed (no exemptions) (or ability to obtain prior to employment)
-Physician's Report: Good health status and TB test clearance
-Copies of immunization records for MMR, DTAP, and flu shot (or flu waiver)
-Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (on-line 3 hours)
-Pesticide Traninig (on-line 1 hour)
-CPR, First Aid Certificate or must obtain within 2 months of employment and keep current.
-Health and Safety Certificate or must obtain within 2 months of employment. (does not expire)
Hours: Monday through Friday Full or Part Time Mornings/Afternoons
Salary: $10.50-12.50 to start depending upon education and experience.
