This is a pair of Pass Labs SR-1 speakers, which is a four piece set: two tops, two bottoms. None of the other equipment in the pictures is included. These speakers were restored from mint condition cabinets using all new components. I took significant effort to make these as close to the original, $20k speakers as I could, as described below. They sound amazing and have been used lightly over the 4 years since I finished them.
In case you are not familiar with these, they were created by Pass Labs in 2008 for customers who liked the famed Rushmore active speakers ($40k/pair) but wanted to run their own amplifiers. The four way, stacked cabinet design is big, and heavy. One of the pictures shows the set sitting behind a pair of Tekton Moabs and, though the Moabs are much taller, the SR-1s are a lot heavier (and much better sounding!)
Cabinets:
The cabinets are original Pass Labs, both tops and bottoms of the four-piece stereo pair. These were empty, with no hardware at all. Note that the wood finish on these cabinets doesn’t actually match – there is one set of cherry finish, the other is madrone burl.
Drivers:
I identified the correct drivers (all SEAS, high-end models) and purchased them new from Madisound. I got the original crossover plans, as designed and built by Pass Labs.
Crossovers:
I had one of the original crossovers, and used it to identify the specific manufacturer and class of parts to use, as well as the wiring used for internal connections. There were part numbers for the switches on the schematics, which allowed me to source them as well.
Hardware:
I had one set of the hardware (rear plates, foot cups, etc) from a lower cabinet. I used these as models to have a new set CNC machined out of high quality aluminum at a local shop in Auburn, CA.
Note that for the crossovers and hardware, I created new sets for all cabinets, so they match exactly. I still have the example pieces that I used as models.
See the pictures for build details.
