Shift Supervisor Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Accurately and efficiently perform all assigned tasks and responsibilities with a positive attitude.
Oversee daily shift operations.
Ensure the restaurant is opened/closed properly.
Organize shift’s server table sections; allocate tables fairly to service staff and ensure their sections align with their assigned side work.
Ensure employees have arrived promptly to each shift and are work ready. Facilitate coverage for staff that are unable to work their shift.
Facilitate front of house and back of house breaks in accordance to the Company’s break sheet; make any needed adjustments. Provide break coverage when needed. Ensure the Company is running breaks in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
Complete staff checkouts. Ensure assigned tasks/side-work are completed thoroughly. Each shift must set the next shift up for success.
Verify server deposits before sending staff home; each deposit should have cash receipts, credit card authorization receipts, staff tip out allocation, their cash deposit, and in an orderly fashion.
Oversee service staff fulfilling their job responsibilities: introducing specials, properly setting tables, servicing their tables promptly, and providing exceptional customer service. Offer on-the-spot training/counseling when needed.
Assign tasks to employees and ensure they are completed effectively and properly.
Ensure the restaurant is compliant with Cal OSHA, CDPH and Sac County Public Health regulations throughout each shift.
Educate the staff on safety guidelines, customer service best practices, and standards for restaurant cleanliness.
Assist in resolving customer complaints in a timely and courteous manner. Document all customer complaints and resolutions.
Document employee praises; this included in-person and praises written on receipts.
Keep daily inventory and make sure every area is ready to go. Log any needed product or equipment.
Cover the duties of staff who are unable to work their shifts.
Shift Supervisor required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include, but are not limited to:
· Adequate cash handling skills.
· Possesses knowledge of safe food-handling procedures, sanitary conditions, proper handwashing techniques, and other health department regulations.
· Pays attention to small details, consistently completes tasks thoroughly and is able to follow instructions.
· Demonstrates excellent organizational, tidiness, time management and multi-tasking skills.
· Demonstrates the ability to handle criticism well and to learn from mistakes.
· Has excellent communication skills with subordinates, co-workers and management.
· Ability to stand/walk and stay focused and alert for extended periods of time.
· Exudes an upbeat, outgoing and positive attitude.
· Positive attitude, willingness to work cohesively with a team, and willingness to learn.
Shift Supervisor Qualifications/Working Conditions include, but are not limited to:
A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
Food Manager Certification and RBS Training is required.
Previous food service experience with the ability to perform multiple jobs in the restaurant.
· Has proof of valid certifications compliant with state of California requirements, proof of valid I-9 Identification Documentation and must be eligible to work in the United States of America.
Previous management or supervisory experience is required.
Possess excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and problem-solving skills.
· Has the flexibility and ability to work a variety of operations hours, including days, nights, weekends and holidays, and overtime hours, as needed.
· Position may require prolonged reaching, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
· Work with hot and cold temperatures, and hazardous equipment.
· Has the ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced, high stress environment.
· Has reliable transportation.
· Has consistently punctuality to all scheduled shifts.
· Compliant with all local, state and federal guidelines.
