Kitchen Aide - Meals on Wheels Yolo County (West Sacramento)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am-1:30pm (5 hours a day, 25 hours/week)
Rate of Pay: $12.50/hour (non-exempt)
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid sick leave, 10 paid holidays/year
Reports To: West Sacramento Site Manager

1. Food preparation, packaging, service, and clean-up activities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
2. Work as a team with site manager, staff, and volunteers and keep a strict schedule with deadlines.
3. Accurately receive and unload thermal containers and ice chests of food and supplies.
4. General maintenance, service, and proper usage of kitchen and organization property.
5. Serving meals and drinks to recipients at the meal site at the designated mealtime.
6. Assist in proper food and kitchen sanitation, safety techniques, and cleaning up to reflect a clean and pleasant environment, including dishwashing, sweeping, and mopping, up to the established health department codes.
7. Leading, supervising, and scheduling kitchen/meal delivery volunteers.
8. Assist in keeping and submitting kitchen records, paperwork, and meal reservations on a regular basis.
9. Assist in driving meal delivery routes and delivering meals as necessary.
10. Maintain excellent and regular communication with supervisor of all events and incidents at the site. Maintain positive and sociable relationships with staff, volunteers, meal recipients, and site staff.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

1. Lift and carry 50 lbs., stand continuously up to 3 hours, bend below waist and reach above head.
2. Perform established duties, responsibilities, and expectations as expected with minimal supervision.
3. Learn and use simple food service skills, environmental protocols, regulations, and correct and safe usage of kitchen appliances and tools.
4. Actively communicate and maintain positive working relationships with supervisor, staff, volunteers, and clients.
5. Adapt quickly; responding flexibly and proactively to the needs of the kitchen and deadlines.
6. Arrive at job on time, maintain a good attendance record, and established schedule.
7. Read instructions and complete simple reports accurately and in a timely manner.
8. Read, write, complete simple math to maintain records at a level required for a successful job performance.
9. Maintain a high level of personal and professional hygiene and dress.
10. Positively represent our organization to the community at large and to volunteers.
11. Ability to relate to and communicate with the elderly with special sensitivity and skill.

1. Must possess and maintain a clean driver’s record without major violations (current DMV printout required).
2. Must possess a current California Driver’s license.
3. Must possess current proof of auto insurance.
4. Must possess a clean criminal history without felony convictions (we pay for the background check).
5. Food Handler’s card required, but can be obtained after hire. ServSafe not required, but is a plus.
