Primary Objectives: Oversees commercial loan originations including underwriting, funding and servicing, ensuring compliance of all rules and regulations including SBA requirements. Provides leadership, ongoing training and staff development to ensure staff is knowledgeable advocates for our business membership. Ensures effective management of business accounts, vendors and third-party relationships to meet the commercial lending needs of company. Principal Responsibilities: Responsible for underwriting, funding, and servicing commercial loans, including participation loans and deposit accounts. Ensures compliance with the annual loan review process. Ensures compliance with state and federal lending rules and regulations and that the credit union adheres to requirements of the Small Business Administration to protect the guaranteed portion of the loan. Maintains underwriting policies and practices are up to date and revisions approved by the board annually. Participates in internal and external audits and examinations and takes action if needed. Develops, coaches and motivates staff. Conducts performance reviews in a timely manner and prepares the annual ongoing development plan for department staff. Develops and implements procedural changes to improve the experience for our business members. Oversees the preparation of monthly portfolio reports and quarterly reports for board review, and is an active participant of the Quality Loan Review Team (QLRT). Responsible for vendor management including managing 3rd-party relationships, annual due diligence and request for proposal of new providers for loan and deposit services for our business banking members. Actively participates in the management leadership team. Promotes company's brand in the community and participates in community functions and c.u. events. Professionally interfaces with members for handling questions, concerns and issues not resolved by staff. Required Skills PC skills to include Microsoft Office, computerized loan origination systems and working knowledge of internet transactions. Thorough knowledge of business lending, include SBA programs and requirements, as well as conventional commercial lending products and services. Thorough understanding of commercial lending strategies and metrics. Extensive experience in commercial lending originations and operations. Excellent presentation skills as well as professional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with all levels within the organization. Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives. Strong member service orientation. Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects/assignments and meet deadlines. Strong leadership skills and the ability to promote teamwork, provide support, motivation, direction and professional development to assigned staff. Sound understanding of company's products and services. Ability to interact with diverse groups of people including business community members, potential borrowers and referral agents in a professional and diplomatic manner.
Required Experience BA/BS in Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum 7 years experience in a commercial underwriting position, including SBA lending. Minimum 3 years management experience.
