The Java Banana plant is the only variety that I have successfully fruit in the Sacramento region on a yearly basis. It is said the bananas taste like vanilla ice cream. This banana tree loves the sun and can take the frost when their roots are established in the soil. 3ft to 4ft tall trees starts at 50 each.
