Cornus kousa ( Chinese Dogwood) is better than the more readily available Cornus Florida (eastern Dogwood) which is known as one of the most problematic trees in our local nursery trade. Root rot , bore damage, sun burn - you name it.
Chinese dogwood is heat tolerant and a better choice for the central valley.
I have beautiful 6-8 footers for 20$.
Amazing flowers as seen , along with an incredible blazing red fall color each autumn.
This tree is sun and shade tolerant and especially beautiful as understory planting under large trees in a natural style garden.
