I have the beautiful Elephant Ear, also known to Hawaiians as poi, and the Taro plant. These beautiful plants are a must for the shade and partial shade tropical garden. The variety I have is rare as it has the scalloped edges as it matures. The regular green edible taro is 5$ in 4 inch pot (these are full with multiple tubers) or get 5 for $20,00 = 1 free.
The leaves and potato like tubers are edible- my customers have told me many methods for cooking.
These plants love water and will grow in a water garden, or any situation as long as you water it often. They love wet boggy clay soil.
You can even plant it in a ceramic urn with no drainage holes and grow it in gravel. Just Miracle Grow added once a month will keep it growing great - just keep adding water as needed. SUPER EASY TO GROW.
I have also the exotic taros as seen in photos- these are 20$ for 1 gallon size.

I have many other shade plants -ostrich ferns, blue and yellow iris - pink water calla lily, white calla lily as well. They are 5 or 10$ each as well, depending on size of clump.
Also shown is the rare giant purple stem form. In pots it will reach 5 to 6 feet shown. This variety will grow in pond edge or in normal, consistently moist soil.
The purple giant I have limited supply and are 20$ per gallon. I also have other Beautiful varieties called Coal Miner, Lime Fizzy and variegated Lime Fizzy.
All taro look best in afternoon shade- full sun is fine as long as kept wet.
