BSR (Birmingham Stove & Range) Century series cast iron cookware is identifiable by its markings and production methods. Century series pans, produced from the 1950s to the 1990s, often feature a size number followed by "NO." and the pan's diameter in inches (e.g., "NO. 8 10 1/8 IN"). They also have a distinctive V-shaped ridge on the underside of the handle. Unlike the earlier Red Mountain series, Century series pans were often made with automated equipment, resulting in a smoother interior and sometimes a slightly rougher exterior.
Birmingham Stove & Range (BSR) (BSR) began stamping "Made in USA" on their cast iron skillets in late 1967. This was part of a marketing strategy to compete with imported cookware and was implemented alongside the introduction of their newly redesigned Century series pans. By 1968, most BSR pans featured the "Made in USA" mark.
