Rare Vintage General Electric Microwave Brown 'N Serve by Corning 8.5" Microwave Browning Skillet
This is a microwave browning skillet made expressly for General Electric by Corning. Not for use on the range top or in the oven.
Several companies ordered special microwave browning dishes from Corning to accompany their Microwave ovens in the 70s. Some of these companies had specific designs applied to their dishes. This browning skillet was made expressly for General Electric and was made in both blue and black pattern.
Food heats by the microwave as well as the heat plate on the under side of the skillet. You can actually make a grilled cheese sandwich in the microwave in less than 3 minutes - how cool is that?!!! Not at all....it's sizzlin' HOT!!!
Use for:
Frying hamburgers and pork chops
Toasting sandwiches
Grilling pancakes
Sauteing vegetables
Not for use on range top or in the oven as it degrades the tin-oxide on the bottom of the pan and ruins it's ability to brown food.
