The C-141 Starifter played a crucial role in various military operations and humanitarian missions worldwide. Notable, the "Hanoi Taxi" was famous for transporting the first returned prisoners of war during Operation Homecoming in 1973. It was a workhorse for the USAF Air Mobility Command, and a modified version even served NASA as a flying astronomical research laboratory. The C-141 fleet was eventually retired, with the last aircraft withdrawn from service in 2006.
This wooden model of the C-141 Starlifter was handcrafted from solid mahogany and then polished to a high gloss finish. Approximately 8 1/2" tall, this beautiful aircraft sits on a stand that even has a place where a nameplate could be placed. Highly detailed, this would make a wonderful gift for the aviator, veteran, or collector in your life. Excellent vintage condition.
