These Infratech infrared heaters are delightful, they don't heat the air or smoke like the propane patio heaters, they heat the objects in the path of the infrared (like your body). The electrician who installed mine brought along a rookie apprentice who actually stuck the wires into 2 different circuit breakers so there was live current arriving to the lamp but it wouldn't turn on. Electrician decided they sent me a defective element. The company came through and sent me another element - hah - it didn't work either so I sleuthed it out, got the wires both on the same circuit and voila! I tried to give the new heating element back to the company but they couldn't sell it since I'd opened the box. Like with the old halogen headlights, if one screws in the bulb with bare hands, the oils left from one's fingers can make the bulb explode later. I handled this one with nitrile gloves. So it is brand new and in the box. $250 new on the website.
