Classic, Reliable BMW Motorcycle.
This is a 1999 R1100 RT bike.
I have owned several bikes including few BMW's. This is one of the most reliable bikes I've had.
The last photo shows the bike while I was doing Maintenance on it.
The Maintenance and upkeep I gave it made it even more so. This model is also one of the most trouble free bikes.
Bike has 102K miles on it. Mostly Highway miles. Not too high for a 25-year-old bike but not too few to where it is not ridden on a regular basis & left to rot.
The great things about this bike:
Oil and filter change every 6-8 months. Full Synthetic Oil.
Final drive Synthetic gear Oil, brake fluid & system flush and new fluid last November.
One rear brake line was leaking so it was replaced with a metal line. Brake master cylinder was flushed too.
New brake pads and rear brake rotor were replaced.
New tires. And wheels hubs were lubricated.
Only Premium Gas was ever used in this bike.
The 2 front Rotors were removed, and floating pins were replaced to get rid of the known "Cow Bell" noise.
Fuel system was cleaned.
Spark plugs removed, examined and cleaned.
Throttle bodies cleaned.
New Battery in February.
Alternator belt was replaced.
Hess Sensor was replaced. This is a known issue with this bike.
Couple of years ago when I lived in the Bay area & came to visit my Dad in Sacramento, the bike died on the Freeway during very heavy rain.
Found out this issue is caused by the Hess Sensor. Even though it was replaced with a new one, it still caused the bike to die and it would not start till it got dry 2 days later. Had to tow it home.
So I performed a service on the bike even the dealer will not do. I took all the coverings (Tupperware) off the bike. Insulated all the exposed wires and junctions with shrink tubing and electrical tape, including the Hess sensor wires.
This insulated the wires against rain. This took many hours to do.
I have ridden the bike since then during very heavy rain. It started every time without hesitation. I doubt any other bike has this done.
Bike has comfortable seats and back rest and full luggage (Side and back). And tank bag.
It also has a dashboard shelf (look at photos) with built in 4 power outlets and 2 lights. This is in addition to the DIN outlet on the Left side.
Bike has a rear brake light which flashes for few seconds for better visibility.
Electrically Adjustable windshield.
Minor issues:
Couple of years ago, I didn't lock the Left side case in place and lost it on the freeway. I replaced it with another one which has it's own key.
You can rekey it to the same bike key if you want.
The RPM gauge light went out. I did not bother to replace it since I can simply turn on the light built into the shelf and be able to see the RPM gauge at night if I need to.
The bike runs and handles amazingly, I simply have too many bikes.
I am asking $6995 Cash or best offer. Bike has a Clean California Title in my name.
If you like to work on your own bike, this bike is fairly easy to work on and extremely reliable.
Has ABS.
Heated hand grips.
Mechanical Cruise Control.
Rear adjustable shock.
Extendable Highway Pegs. Can be folded out of the way.
Beautiful Irish Green color.
Not too many electronics to break down which cost a fortune to fix.
I am asking $6995 or best offer for this Classic bike. CASH please, no trades. No joy rides. Will add more photos.
