6.5 x 14 Yamaha FRP Fiberglass snare drum in a wicked looking translucent green.
Yamaha's website describes the FRP shell as being…
"Solid and strong, FRP permits the utilization of thinner 3mm thick shells. Extremely durable, these shells will stand up to the hardest performance while delivering a dynamic sound that is fat with excellent response. FRP is the same
material used in making YAMAHA marimbas, xylophones, and timpanis. Their semi- transparent quality makes the shell appear to glow when illuminated."
I bought it brand new back in May 2009, but it had been tucked away at Atlanta Pro Percussion for a few years. When I played it, I bought it immediately. It was the best sounding drum in that huge store, and they had Black Beauties, Supraphonics,
Bradys, etc. … and none sounded as good as this one.
I never thought I'd sell my Black Beauty, but I did once I got this drum. That's how good it sounds!
The shell allows the drum to be tuned WAY HIGH, WAY LOW, or right in the middle. Every tuning is a sweet spot which is quite rare for most drums.
I've added PureSound snare wires as well.
Original Yamaha DynaHoops make this drum just sing and a wide open sound.
The green color is transluscent, so depending on how the light hits it, it looks like no other drum I've ever seen.
Yamaha needs to make kits out of this FRP!
Included is Humes & Berg lined hard case in green.
