And yes, Sweet Virginia, Christmas IS just around the corner!!!

Up for sale is a groovy little FENDER BASS AND ACOUSTIC AMP OUTFIT ETC., everything you need to get started playing bass.

First, let me say I was a pro-musician in the late 60's and early 70's (whadda time and yes, I do remember it). I put this outfit together for my nephew to learn bass on, or even me, wasn't entirely sure, but my nephew has not followed through, no fire in the belly like I had and I am not 100% sure I have time, so will list it and see what happens. Want someone to use it.

BTW, my band just had our single from '71 picked up as lead-cut on the BROWN ACID TWENTIETH TRIP compilation album on LA's Riding Easy Records and having the time of our lives with it! I still remember a wee-lad wanting more than anything to be in a band, the Beatles and Stones had played Ed Sullivan and 'Satisfaction' had just come out. I always tell people if you want to actually play and get paid for it, learn to play bass. Decent guitar players are a dime-a-dozen and mostly always outta work. Learn to play bass and people will be callin' you up.

My parents helped me get started with some equipment I couldn't afford by delivering papers and mowing lawns. I remember getting a Farfisa Combo Organ and pre-65 (as new then) Fender Blackface Bassman piggyback amp to plug it into for $500 out of the classifieds that my parents paid for, I paid for my first good guitar, a '52 Tele with a '68 neck (neck was run over by a truck as band was loading up, not a particular problem with a Fender and the picker had no case). I paid $100 for it and played it for many years happily before I even knew anything about it, other than it sounded like Buck Owens, which I dug. Now all that gear would be worth many many times what we paid, but that's not the point.

The point that having some success in music changed my life for the better for 60+ years and counting, not bad, plus made good money and had a ball and got some stage time and confidence in myself. Two university degrees didn't even do all that for me to be honest. My remaining band mates are like brothers, and we chat or zoom weekly. My life is better because of what my parents (and I) did for myself way back in the day. If you are thinking about helping your kid, who might wanna do something musically, don't hesitate is my advice, might pay off very big in their life. Make them cover part of the cost, they'll work harder when they have some skin in the game! Learning an instrument is not EZ, no use sugar-coating it, takes some work and dedication. That in itself is a good life lesson. If you have a daughter get her started on bass too, for God's sake. World needs more bass player's period, and I love women bass players!

Now to the nitty gritty, first the bass. It is a 2022 FENDER SQUIER BRONCO BASS in vintage and classic Fender Fiesta Red (newer ones not available in Fiesta Red, but rather Tahitian Coral, salmon or pink color), like new without a scratch or any issues and with new flat-wound strings on it ($40-$50 bucks easy) The Bronco bass is the same as the Musicmaster bass and is a short scale bass and musicians love 'em, EZ and fun to play, lightweight (this one clocks in at a very light 7 lbs. on the nose, (way less than what a full-size Fender bass can weigh). Poplar body, maple neck and laurel fretboard. You don't have to be a beginner to like these, or someone with smaller hands and fingers say, many PREFER 'em, much easier to go from guitar to bass with these (which is what attracted me in the first place). Check out the prices Musicmaster basses command, Reverb says $1150-$3249! One pickup (a Strat pickup installed from the factory), and an old-skool two-barrel chrome bridge.

There is an exact twin to this Fender Bronco Bass on Nashville Craigslist right now in Fiesta (or Torino Red) for $850.00. These are well-regarded basses. If fact, if no one picks this incredible bass up for cheap here, I will just post it in Nashville for $500 where it will likely go quick, or hell you can too, I have nice shipping carton for it I will throw in!

Now the amp, it is a 2016 ACOUSTIC (brand) G20, 20 watts, 10" speaker (about as small of a speaker you want with a bass). Like new with clean-channel and dirty-channel (and a headphone jack for parent's comfort). Now let me clarify something people get all mixed up on with Acoustic brand amps. These came out in 1967, and I remember them well, they were loud and proud and clean and powerful monster amps which were what many bands wanted at the time and couldn't get, bigger and louder baby! I remember seeing the great Flying V player Albert King using them and the great fretless bassist Jaco Pastorius did as well as many others.

They had nothing to do with what we know today as acoustic amps with small 'a' and to make it even more confusing, Acoustic brand amps didn't use a capital 'A' on their logos but rather a small 'a' as in 'acoustic', acoustic amps now are generally referring to amps designed for the ubiquitous acoustic guitars with built in pickups. Back in '67 if you wanted (or had to play) an acoustic onstage you used a mic and/or a sound-hole pickup, likely a DeArmond through an amp or the PA and hoped for the best with often quite marginal results, complete with a side of feedback.

Also included in the deal is a really nice like new KORG GA1 GUITAR/BASS TUNER. these go for $25 bucks and use the 'sweep-needle' which makes it much easier and more accurate to use. Also, a nice ULTRA GUITAR/BASS STAND and a 15' HEAVY-DUTY GUITAR/BASS CABLE with heavy duty chrome metal ends (straight and right angle). Stand and cable go for $15 each.

Buy everything you need and save some serious change! Be happy to throw in first lesson to get you started right, how everything works, how to tune up, all the basics.

PEACE 'N LOVE AS SIR RINGO ALWAYS REMINDS US!
