2017 Escobedo 7 string Classical Guitar. Made in Mexico by award winning luthier Gerardo Escobedo. Beautiful solid Cocobolo back and sides, solid cedar top with bear claw features. High quality tuners with ebony knobs, 12 hole bridge, ebony fingerboard. Great tone and volume, very deep tone on the low string. This guitar has a narrower neck than many "typical" 7 strings, however the previous owner had his luthier make a nut with slightly wider string spacing so the playability is very good. Some nail marks on the top from playing, no marks on the back. There is a small area of over spray on the bottom which may have been a repair. Comes with a lightweight hard shell case.
Scale length: 650 mm Nut width: 53 mm
Gerardo Escobedo was born in 1979 into a long family line of respected guitar makers – his father is guitar maker Salvador Escobedo, and Gerardo grew up learning the craft in his father's workshop with his brothers Jaime, Jesus and Robert. He built his first guitar at the age of 16 and continued his studies at the Escuela Superior de Musica de la EJUD. By the time he was 25, he was developing his own designs. He has won prizes in several major guitar building competitions, most notably first prize in 2007 at national competitions in Uruapan and Patzcuaro, and second prize in 2009 at an international competition held annually in Paracho with 500 participants! He builds his guitars in a humidity controlled environment in the otherwise very dry town of Paracho, Mexico.
