About Unity of Sacramento
Our client, Unity of Sacramento (https://unityofsacramento.org) is seeking a vibrant, organized, and spiritually-minded leader to oversee the Kids Zone during church services. The Coordinator of Kids Zone, Childcare & Youth Services is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment where children and youth can explore spiritual principles through play, learning, and community.
Compensation: This position is compensated at $35.00/hour for the combined 6.5 hours of Sunday service and staff meeting time, plus any pre-approved hours for special events.
Reports to: Senior Associate Minister of Congregational Care
Role Overview
* Status: Part-Time (Stipend-based at $35/hour)
* Sunday Hours: 4.5 hours (covering the Sunday morning service)
* Weekly Staff Meeting: 90 minutes (scheduled during the week)
* Reporting to: Senior Associate Minister of Congregational Care
Primary Responsibilities
1. Sunday Morning Programming
* Plan and facilitate weekly spiritual and recreational activities for children ages 4–12.
* Ensure a high standard of safety and care in the childcare setting while adults attend the main service.
* Integrate "Learn, Play, and Pray" elements into the curriculum to make spirituality accessible and fun.
2. Event Planning & Special Projects
* Coordinate and execute seasonal and milestone youth events, including:
* Easter Egg Hunts and Trunk or Treat.
* Back to School Blessings and Graduation Sundays.
* Youth Sundays and "Picnic in the Park" days.
* Ongoing arts, crafts, and creative workshops.
3. Leadership & Volunteer Management
* Recruit, train, and oversee a team of dedicated volunteers to support Sunday mornings and special events.
* Partner with parents to identify needs and encourage family participation in youth initiatives.
4. Administrative & Collaborative Duties
* Participate in weekly virtual 90-minute staff meetings to align youth programming with the church’s broader vision.
* Manage resources and supplies for the youth department within an allocated budget.
Qualifications & Skills
* Heart for Youth: A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their spiritual development.
* Spiritual Alignment: Comfort with Unity principles or a broad, inclusive spiritual worldview.
* Organizational Prowess: Ability to juggle weekly curriculum planning with long-term event coordination.
* Leadership: Experience managing volunteers or leading small teams is highly preferred.
* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with parents, staff, and church leadership.
