For speedlights that do not already have built-in remote radio or optical trigger capability, attaching this Honeywell Foto-Eye II optical slave trigger to the speedlight allows the connected speedlight to be triggered remotely by a separate flash source, as long as the two lights are in the optical line of sight and within effective triggering distance of 30 – 200 feet (dependent on the guide number of the triggering flash). Both the top shoe and bottom foot are "cold," with the electrical connection to the flash made using a synch cord in the PC socket on the side. The small blue rectangle visible in front is the light-sensitive element which triggers the slave flash. The mounting hole on the bottom flange lets you attach the flash/Foto-Eye II unit to a stand with a ¼” threaded tip. A nice feature of this unit is that it operates without batteries. Also, it is not damaged by flash trigger voltages in the hundreds of volts—this was normal for electronic flash units of the era.
With this optical slave trigger, you could thus have remote, off-camera flash at a very low cost.
This nice unit is in perfect working condition. See photos for cosmetic details.
