Telescope wanted and free buying/selling advice

Over the years I have noticed that two categories of individuals could use assistance: Someone purchasing their first telescope or individuals selling telescopes that they have inherited.
All too often first time purchasers get a scope that leads to disappointment and their total loss of interest in astronomy or they get boondoggled and pay too much for a scope, while at the same time other people who inherit a scope do not know what to do in terms of selling it (the correct price to ask and whether there is any value in trying to sell it in the first place).
Thus my idea to provide a FREE service to help those of you in these types of situations. It is totally free.
I especially like to help families getting the first scope for their children.
On occasion people say the scope is like-new but it reeks with improper care (thick dust and junk all over the unit. So do your due diligence when purchasing one.
Also be cautious when purchasing open box scopes. There is a likelihood that they were Amazon returns, re-purchased via auction, and offered for sale by third parties on websites. They are actually returns or quality-control rejects that have damaged components or compromised optics, thus their return. However, there also may not be any problems with them. So do your due diligence when purchasing one.
Please note I do not deal with astro-photography. I work only with visual observing.
Also I only will provide recommendations and comments and will not be responsible for the buying/selling decisions you make. I also do not receive any compensation from any entity who is selling telescopes and accessories.
And some final words to the wise for those selling their gear:
- show actual photos of the item not some photo-shopped ones.
- provide the manufacturer name, make, model and other information labeled on the scope itself for people to know what you are actually selling.
