As a highly analytical and a creative problem solver, you are able to conceive ideas and strategy, plan and execute those ideas, analyze results and most importantly adapt to change. You'll be an important part of our programming team and bring a willingness to share your experience. You enjoy and excel in all aspects of web front end development (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Sass, NodeJS, Gulp, Webpack, etc) but can write solid .NET or C#. You are platform agnostic and the end goal, of exceeding the client's expectations, is more important than the actual tools you use. The ideal candidate is comfortable with the responsibilities of programming and software development using various programming languages and related frameworks, requirements gathering, bug fixing, testing, documenting and implementing solutions. As an experienced programmer, you are also responsible for interpreting architecture, design and code reviews in addition to helping/mentoring other developers on the team when needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Self-motivated and self-directed individual. Can speak both technical jargon and everyday business language.

  • Report into the SharePoint Support Team Lead.

    • Keep the Lead appraised of workload, issues and news.

    • Ability to work as part of a team and can communicate with and get along with other team members



  • Demonstrated experience meeting with business users to discuss new systems/enhancements and has successfully translated those "human spoken" desires into functional specifications and design documents.

  • Responsible for development, deployment, and support custom built and out of the box solutions with SharePoint 2013 and beyond.

  • SharePoint Client-side development. Client-side scripting with CSOM (Client Side Object Model) and JavaScript/JQuery/React.

    • Should have strong web based design skills in responsive UI using HTML, CSS and modern development toolchains, i.e. NodeJS/Yeoman/Gulp/WebPack/TypeScript/Sass

    • Should be able to suggest best practices to be followed



  • SharePoint Server-side development. C# / IIS / Azure based server side architecture and development.

    • Should be well versed with Object Oriented Concepts



  • Participate in the architectural design and requirement gathering sessions as necessary

  • Finding opportunities for streamlining and automating functions.

  • A passion for all things tech and has a drive to experiment with new technologies to see where they can benefit the business.

  • Typically 80% new development work & 20% operations/maintenance, potentially moving to 50%-50% between dev and maintenance work after the go-live of the project. [SV1]

  • Customize SharePoint sites to address business needs

  • Develop (via custom code or out of the box applications) business applications and systems

  • Design and implement secure applications to meet the changing business needs of the organization

  • Design specifications and implement new integrations between applications

  • Install/configure/support of databases and database applications

  • Analyzes requirements and potential solutions for technical and economic feasibility

  • Perform in-depth test plans, including end-user testing

  • SQL Development - ability to design, write, and troubleshoot SQL Code (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)

    • Assist in the planning and code modifications necessary for upgrades to newer versions of SQL Server.
    • Identify data sources, construct data decomposition diagrams, provide data flow diagrams and document the process.

  • Assist in conducting research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts .

  • Work with users to identify and develop system requirements and take into account preferred results, hardware limitations, and operating requirements.



REQUIREMENTS


  • Minimum of 8 years' experience as an applications developer and at least 5 years as a SharePoint developer.

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or Equivalent Experience

  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript and common libraries and frameworks is a must.

  • Strong debugging skills in Visual Studio & browser (developer tools),

  • Independent, self-motivated and success driven, yet willing to work within a team environment

  • Knowledge of Teradata SQL is a plus

  • Exemplary time management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills

  • Willingness to learn, be coached and coach others in programming skills and strategies

  • Experience developing complex coding projects

  • Personable, with good communication skills both online and in-person

  • Ability to travel or work on-site as required

  • This job is local to the greater Davis/Sacramento region and it requires a high percentage of in-office time.
